I’ve been working my way through Job these last few days. I have actually never read Job before and the story is catching me by surprise.

18 “But the mountain falls and crumbles away,
and the rock is removed from its place;
19 the waters wear away the stones;
the torrents wash away the soil of the earth;
so you destroy the hope of man.
20 You prevail forever against him, and he passes;
you change his countenance, and send him away.
21 His sons come to honor, and he does not know it;
they are brought low, and he perceives it not.
22 He feels only the pain of his own body,
and he mourns only for himself.”

“…so you destroy the hope of man.” That’s a pretty weighty statement. It makes me cringe…how will God respond?

Lately: still enjoying being back in Ames, moved rooms in the Mansion (my walls are now green!), painted a lamp, running, and saw one of my best friends, Ashley Olsen (now Miles!), get married yesterday!!

I started this morning off with a run around the main street area of Ames. Had a side stitch the
whole way = death/really good run. : )
The mansion is all sorts of disastrous from people moving in and out and storing things here.
Our “coffee room” is literally full of things we are storing!

I also started sorting through all of my things…a pre-school cleaning to offset all the chaos happening downstairs. I’ve been finding a lot of design things in random places – stamping & embossing ventures:

Also, because I’m changing rooms, I’ve been trying to find ways to better decorate my living space. I found an old wooden chair yesterday by a dumpster with Kristin. It has half of one arm missing (no biggie) and some minor scratches, but after polishing it up, it’ll pair great with the desk I’m going to paint white. I’m planning on painting my desk and bookcase from black to white and hanging white curtains instead of the golden patterned ones I have now. Planning how I’m going to decorate my living space is really fun! I’ve realized through the last handful of years of living away from my parents house and getting to decorate my own space that my style is constantly changing. I think it’s settling into a place that loves white, glass, and wood…open, clutter-less style.

We’re going to the chapel…

This Saturday my best friend from high school, Morgan Remick, got married!! I know she had been anticipating the day patiently, so it was exciting to see her the day of the wedding!

I’ve known her since Kindergarten! I can still remember the first time we had a sleepover at her house : )

Yesterday was Ashley’s bachelorette party! We went to Peterson pits to have a picnic and catch some rays. Super chill and a day that was much needed!

Such a perfect day for a picnic!

We wait for you.

In the last few days, I have moved from the great city of Minneapolis back to my parents house in the “middle-of-nowhere” rural Iowa. It’s a nice change, fresh air instead of smelling McDonalds every time I step outside! I took some time last night to spend time in the word + drink tea. It’s usually “coffee and the word” (said slightly gangsta-ish from the voice of Ashley Olsen), though coffee is slowly being replaced by tea. I love coffee, but the antioxidant power of tea is appealing! Not to mention the awesome packaging ; )IMG_0149_editedIMG_0152_edited

Rachel Kirkpatrick and I started a chronological bible reading plan together. I’m really excited for this, because I feel that reading the bible chronologically will help me better understand the bible as a whole. While reading the first seven chapters of Genesis, I am overwhelmed by the message of God’s provision!

When Adam and Eve sinned by eating the fruit of the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, the Lord first punishes them by giving pain in childbirth and pain in working the land. Then He protects them by banning them from the Garden of Eden “lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—” (Gen. 3:22) and clothes them! It reminds me just how reminiscent man is of little children. We have no idea the ramifications of what we do, and though we sin against God, He is faithful and takes care of us. He is a good father, teaching us from right and wrong but still provides for us and protects us. After the death of Abel by Cain, God gave Adam and Eve another son, Seth. Seth was “in the image” of his father, Adam. He was a blessing from God!

I’m truly enjoying going back through verses that I’ve read many times before, God is opening my eyes to things in scripture that I didn’t catch before!

I’m journaling much more than ever before – flying through pages in my journal! I’ve realized that for me, it’s really good to write out prayers as well as what is on my mind/what I’m learning. And, I’ve discovered my favorite kind of pen : ) Because everyone has a favorite kind of pen, right? These next few weeks will go so fast! Full of weddings and moving things around in my house in Ames! Then it’s work meetings and moving my sister into her new apartment, singing with my sister at our parent’s church, hanging out with Zach as much as possible, leader’s retreat, and….school starting! This summer is flying by, that’s for sure!

Dry Bones

Wow, it has been a while. I haven’t been too consistent with posting, but a posting schedule will soon help that out : )
For now, some music inspiration that is getting me through my last few days of my internship!
